Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu will be participating in the UEFA Europa League next season after his side IF Elfsborg managed a 1-1 draw against Sirius in an Allsvenskan game played on Sunday.
It was Elfsborg last away game of the season in a game that saw the hosts take a seventh-minute lead through Stefano Vecchia with the visitors restoring parity in the 54th minute through Rasmus Alm.

With 29 games gone, Okumu’s side is placed second on the log with 50 points; seven behind leaders Malmo with one game left to play. While Malmo will be representing Sweden in the UEFA Champions League, Elfsborg and either Hacken or Djugardens will be representing the nation in the Europa League.
Hacken and Djugardens are on 48 and 45 points respectively with the former having an advantage of two goals; Elfsborg on 50 points can only fall to third should they lose their last game of the season.
Okumu will hope that he can come against his former schoolmate Eric Ouma as IF Elfsborg will be up against AIK in the last game slated for December 6 2020.
The defender has been an integral part of the Elfsborg team since joining them in August 2019 and has played 23 of the 29 games.
