Gor Mahia, Nairobi City Stars and Posta Rangers will be facing each other in a pre-season tournament on Saturday 21, November 2020 at the Nairobi’s Jamhuri Grounds.

While fans are eager to watch their teams in action, City Stars CEO Mr. Patrick Korir in an interview with Pepeta revealed that it won’t be possible to have people in the ground due to the Covid protocols put in place by the government but feels the showpiece will be beneficial for the teams involved.

According to Korir, it’s been hard to get a ground to accommodate more than one team in a day but getting involved in the tournament will give them a good chance to test their players against good sides.

“Each team will play two games in the day which is a possibility. It’s tough getting a pitch to play in and that informed this direction (to only have three teams) to allow all the teams get two quality pre-season buildups on the same day.

“With this arrangement, each team can give a runout to all its players across the two games. As much as we wanted fans to watch their favourite teams, that won’t happen as it’s not allowed currently by the government,” Korir said.

Rangers will open the field against City Stars at 9 am with Gor Mahia coming up against City Stars in the second game from 11: 30 am; the final game being between Gor and Rangers from 3 pm.

While Gor has been slated to take Tusker in the opening game of the season when Rangers and City Stars will be up against newbies Bidco United and Nzoia Sugar respectively.
