Gor Mahia got back to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 win over Ulinzi Stars in a rescheduled FKF Premier League game staged at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Wednesday.

Head coach Zedekiah Otieno had rung changes in the starting team with the likes of Samuel Kapen and Gedeon Bendeka being handed starts following a spate of bad results since he took charge of the team.

The hosts’ intentions were shown from the earlier proceedings when Joshua Onyango was to see his effort come off the woodwork after connecting well to Samuel Kapen’s throw-in. And if that wasn’t a warning enough for the soldiers, Kapen was to put Gor into the lead just three minutes later with Levin Odhiambo being the provider.

Ulinzi seemed to have grown in the game after the early setback but were to be undone with some poor marking when Ronney Onyango doubled Gor’s lead in stoppage time of the first half and Shariff Musa flicked an Austin Odhiambo’s corner into his path.

Gor upped the tempo in the second half with Odhiambo getting his name into the scoresheet just six minutes past the hour mark from the penalty spot in an outing that now eases some pressure off the shoulders of coach Zico.

The win now has them placed fifth on the league table with 21 points, just three points off leaders KCB who have played a game more.
