Junior Stars Assistant Coach Anthony Akhulia was impressed by his side’s display despite losing to Tanzania on Wednesday in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations-CECAFA Qualifiers.
Kenya went 0-1 down to their neighbours and have no option but to win their next toe against Uganda if they harbour any ambitions of qualifying for the continental tournament.

Speaking after the Wednesday game, Akhulia believes they started slowly but picked momentum in the second half something he hopes they can build on heading into their next game.
“The boys can play. We picked up momentum in the second half, and we want to build on that as we head into the second match against Uganda,” said Akhulia. “It’s a must-win match if we want to progress, and the team is clear on that.”
Kenya will face Uganda on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Nakivubo Hamz Stadium with the result of the game set to determine which team advances to the semi-finals and stays in contention for a spot in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
In another match of the day, South Sudan beat their neighbour Sudan 1-0 to be the second team to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
