Viktor Gyokeres ended his goalscoring drought as Arsenal maintained their 100 per cent winning start in this season’s Champions League with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Gabriel nodded Arsenal in front from a set-piece just before the hour mark and Gabriel Martinelli kept up his record of scoring in every Champions League fixture so far this season.

Viktor Gyokeres ended his goal drought by scoring twice in quick succession as Mikel Arteta’s side made it three wins from three in the League Phase.

The Gunners were the better side in the first half, but had nothing to show for their dominance as Eberechi Eze’s deflected effort hit the crossbar and Jan Oblak did well to deny Bukayo Saka.

Martinelli thought he had broken the deadlock shortly before half-time but his effort was correctly ruled out for offside.

Meanwhile, a rare mistake from Gunners goalkeeper David Raya almost gifted Giuliano Simeone a goal before Julian Alvarez struck the crossbar early in the second half.
