The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) have confirmed the appointment of Miguel Gamondi as their new National Team interim head coach ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
TFF officially announced the appointment of the 61-year-old Argentine after terminating its contract with former Taifa Stars head coach Hemed Suleiman, popularly known as Morocco.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, November 4, the decision was reached through a mutual agreement between the two parties. TFF expressed its appreciation for his service and confirmed that both sides had amicably agreed to part ways.
Gamondi will take charge of the Taifa Stars as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals, scheduled to take place in Morocco from December. Taifa Stars secured their place by finishing second in their qualifying group behind DR Congo.
“Following the decision, TFF has appointed Singida Black Stars head coach Miguel Gamondi to serve as the interim head coach of Taifa Stars,” the statement reads. “Discussions have been held between TFF and Singida Black Stars about the coach taking up his new responsibilities,” TFF said in a statement.

Gamondi has a wealth of experience, having worked across African club football with his latest station being in the Tanzanian NBC Premier League with Singida Black Stars where he has been since July 2025 and guided the team to qualify for the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
He also won the 47th edition of the CECAFA Kagame Interclub Cup with the club after defeating Al Hilal of Sudan 2-1 in the final held in Tanzania and is currently placed 8th in the Tanzanian NBC Premier League log with 6 points from 2 games.
Gamondi is not new in Tanzania, having guided Young Africans to the league title in 2023/24 and took the club to the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League, where they lost 3-2 on penalties to Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

Born in Olavarría, Gamondi played for local club Ferrocarril Sud and managed several clubs in Argentina, including Ferro Carril Sud, Racing, El Fortín, San Martín de Tucumán and Racing Club de Avellaneda. In 2000, he moved to Africa to join Oscar Fulloné as an assistant coach to the Libyan side Al-Ahly.
He also became assistant coach to Fulloné in the Burkina Faso national football team in December 2001 and later became assistant coach at ASEC Mimosas, Wydad Casablanca, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Étoile du Sahel. In February 2025, he was appointed manager of Al Nasr of Libya, but his contract was terminated after five matches.
