Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga was in action on Tuesday night as Al Duhail lost their title charge after going 2-0 down to Umm Salal in Qatar’s Stars League.

After a goalless first half, Salal took the lead three minutes after resumption through Lucas Joao before the same player ensured the home side had the three points with another goal in the last minute of normal time.

Olunga competed in the entire game but Duhail remains fifth with 28 points, 21 points below leaders Al Sadd; opponents Umm Salal are now sixth, just a point below Duhail.

Olunga will be hoping that he can help the team change its fortunes when they face off with Qatar SC in their next game set for 28th April 2024.

In Greece, Harambee Starlets attacker Esse Akida was given a rest as AC PAOK beat Panathinaikos 1-0 to proceed to semi finals of the Greek Women’s Football Cup.

Akida will be hoping to be back in the starting team when they meet the same team in the league on Saturday, April 27 2024 in what will be the 24th round of the Greek Women’s Football League.
