Arsenal and Everton dropped points with Manchester United giving a convincing display as the English Premier League continued on Tuesday night.
At the Emirates, Arsenal was held to a goalless draw by high-flying Newcastle United with manager Mikel Arteta expressing his frustrations with the match officials after the game after he felt certain decisions didn’t go his side’s way. The home side was screaming for a penalty for a handball from Jacob Murphy inside the box in stoppage time, but after a VAR check, nothing was given.

In another game of the night, Leicester City’s woes continued after going 0-1 down to Fulham FC. Fulham created plenty of chances early on and had their reward when Aleksandar Mitrović chested down an excellent cross from Willian and delivered the finish past, Danny Ward. Leicester hasn’t earned a single point from a losing position this season but was unlucky to see Youri Tielman’s rocket come off the bar after Ayoze Perez had wasted a glorious chance to put them level.
At Goodison Park, questions will be asked to Frank Lampard, after Everton went 4-1 down to visiting Brighton and Hove Albion. Japan international Kaoru Mitoma capitalized on a misplaced crossfield ball to cut inside and slot home past Jordan Pickford and doubled their lead when forward Evan Ferguson, making his full Premier League debut – crashed a shot onto the base of the left-hand post. The 18-year-old didn’t have to wait long for his goal though, as he doubled Brighton’s lead within six minutes of the restart, slotting home his second in as many games.
There was more misery to come for the Toffees as Ferguson turned provider, squaring the ball to Solly March for a simple finish past Pickford before Pascal Grob made it four; Everton got a late consolation from Demarai Gray’s penalty.
At Old Trafford, Man United extended their winning streak to five games following their 3-0 win over AFC Bournemouth. Casemiro opened the goal-scoring proceedings after a perfect delivery from Christian Eriksen before goals from Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford saw them reduce the points between them and league leaders Arsenal to nine points.
