African Nations Championship (CHAN) defending champions Senegal have beaten Uganda 1-0 to eliminate them from the competition.
In a game staged on Saturday 23rd August 2025 at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda knew that anything rather than a win would see them join other co-hosts Kenya and Tanzania out of the competition.

Uganda had one well to keep Senegal at bay for the better part of the game and had pushed for a scoreless draw at half time. But the deadlock was broken two minutes after the hour mark when Oumar Ba struck after connecting well to a Libasse Guèye’s cross.
Despite the setback, Uganda who had made history by reaching the knockout stage had chances of their own in the game. Allan Okello tested goalkeeper Marc Diouf with a rasping drive before half-time, while substitute Ivan Ahimbisibwe was twice denied in the second half. The closest they came was in the 68th minute when Gavin Kizito met an Okello corner but headed just wide with Diouf beaten.
With the win, Senegal now advances to the semi finals stage where they will meet Madagascar who had shocked co-hosts Kenya in the quarterfinals.
