The African Nations Championship (CHAN) might still be going on but there are teams that have already waved goodbye to the competition.

Nigeria (Group D)
Football powerhouse Nigeria became the first team to exit the competition having failed to win their first two games of the tournament. They opened the competition with a 0-1 loss to Senegal before being whitewashed 4-0 by Sudan; a result that will make their last game against Congo a formality.
Burkina Faso (Group B)
The West African nation opened their tournament with a 0-2 loss to co-hosts Tanzania but redeemed their image with a hard fought 4-2 win over Central African Republic. They however failed to go past Mauritania in a do or die clash and will now exit the competition after playing their last group game against Madagascar.
Central Africa Republic (Group B)
Just like Nigeria, CAR is yet to win a game in this year’s showpiece. They’ve lost to Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Madagascar and is set to finish their tournament with a tie against Tanzania who already qualified for the quarterfinals.
Angola (Group)
Considered one of the pre-tournament favourites, Angola finds themselves out of the competition having failed to navigate what was considered the Group of Death. Their opener was a loss to Morocco and while they held Kenya to a 1-1 draw in their second tie, a loss to DR Congo in their last Group game couple by their win over Zambia sees them out of the competition.

Zambia (Group A)
The Avram Grant side has struggled in the competition where they have lost all their games against DR Congo (2-0), Angola (1-2) and Morocco (3-1). They finish their campaign with a tie against co-hosts Kenya on Sunday at the MISC Kasarani.
Group C remains the most enticing group as everyone still has a chance of making it to the next round including bottom placed Niger who haven’t collected any point in their first two games.
