Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has named Dennis Gicheru as their new Chief Executive Officer/General Secretary on an interim basis.
Gicheru has been the Federation’s head of Legal Affairs and comes in to replace Harold Ndege who has already gone to court to stop the Federation from sacking him.

In a communication to newsrooms on Friday, FKF noted; “We wish to announce that FKF Head of Legal Affairs, Dennis Gicheru, has been appointed Acting General Secretary/CEO pending the advertisement and substantive filling of the position.
The appointment takes effect immediately.”
As acting CEO, Gicheru will oversee day-to-day operations and help maintain the federation’s programmes without disruption.

The CEO office has been a poisoned chalice in recent past with a series of resignations and leadership disputes affecting the federation’s management.
Former CEO Barry Otieno resigned after a five-year tenure to contest the FKF presidency in elections held on December 7 2024 with Patrick Korir subsequently appointed as interim General Secretary/CEO but resigned on February 5, 2025.
Harold Ndege then assumed the position but disagreements with his boss Hussein Mohammed has seen him barred from office with the Federation now appointing Gicheru as they wait for a permanent appointment.
