Uganda Cubs made a false start in the ongoing FIFA Under 17 World Cup 2025 after going 2-1 down to Canada on Wednesday night.
The East African nation started brightly and took the lead after 25 minutes through James Bogere but two goals from Canada in the second half ensured that they ended the game without a point.

The Cubs had done everything for the three points Canada equalized with two minutes left on the clock through Elijah Roche who towered past the visitors’ defence to head home Aghilas Sadek’s corner past Uganda’s goalkeeper Gilbert Mazige.
In the eighth minute of added time substitute Marius Aiyenero converted a penalty to earn Canada maximum points after John Asiimwe was judged to have taken Aiyenero down in the penalty box.
Speaking after the game, the Cubs coach Brian Ssenyondo said, “We need to remain focused ahead of the two remaining group matches.”
On the same day, France who beat Chile 2-0 lead Group K, while Canada are second with Uganda third; the CECAFA representatives in the tournament have a date against Chile in their next game set for November 8th and end their group proceedings against France three days later.
