Jacob Onyango’s goal 18 minutes from time helped Sofapaka record a 1-1 draw against FC Talanta in a FKF Premier League clash staged at Machakos Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Sofapaka who seems to have had some stability since appointing Zediah Otieno a month ago was unlucky to go behind in the 38th minute when Edwin Luta turned the ball in his net in the 38th minute.
Talanta having sensed an opportunity were to do their best in protecting the token that they had been awarded by their opponent and were headed for all three points until Jacob Onyango came to Sofapaka’s rescue to earn his side a point.
The draw sees both teams tied on 24 points, just four points above relegation after Kariobangi Sharks beat Muhuroni Youth in another game staged on the same day.
Talanta knows that they can rest on their laurels just yet as they have tough tests coming up starting with Kariobangi Sharks who are doing all they can to climb up the ladder. The tie will precede that of Kakamega Homeboyz, Nzoia Sugar FC, Police FC, and Tusker FC.
Sofapaka on the other hand has a date with Muhoroni Youth, Bidco United, Murang’a Seal, AFC Leopards and Ulinzi Stars in their next five fixtures.
