In a statement, Gor said,” Goalkeeper Gad Mathews is set to be airlifted to Nairobi after a sudden illness saw him hospitalised and miss the team’s ODM@20 final against Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium yesterday.
“The crisis began yesterday morning when Gad developed severe abdominal pain. According to Team Doctor Brian Odongo, the pain “gradually worsened over time,” leading to the decision to admit him to a Mombasa hospital for urgent investigation and treatment.”
Odongo added,”On the morning of Friday, Gad Mathew experienced abdominal pain that gradually worsened over time. Due to the increasing severity of the pain, he was taken to the hospital where he has been admitted for further investigations and treatment.”
The condition, according to the club, doesn’t allow the player to travel for long distance with the team having been scheduled to depart for Nairobi via the the scheduled 3pm train.
The former Karioabangi Sharks keeper will be discharged later today and take a flight to the capital instead for further medical process with team captain Philemon Otieno and a second Team Doctor, Joash Odhiambo remaining in Mombasa to assist with the discharge process and ensure Mathews’s safe transit to the airport.
