Four Premier League clubs progressed to the next round of the EFL Cup after sailing past their opponents on Tuesday night.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle’s hunt for a trophy continued on Tuesday as they beat Bournemouth 1-0. Taking no chances, the Englishman had a strong lineup for the tie after not being in action for more than a month. Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, and Callum Wilson but it was Adam Smith who put the ball into his own net to oust the Cherries of the competition.

In another match of the night, Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez, and Jamie Vardy all scored as Leicester City ran 3-0 winners over MK Dons as Wolves beat a resilient Gillingham thanks to late goals from Raul Jimenez (through a penalty) and Aït-Nouri in extra time.

Southampton came from behind to beat Lincoln 2-1 as Che Adams netted twice for the south coast club. It was the League One side who took a shock lead inside the opening two minutes as Saints goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu palmed a header into his own net.
