The CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup will be returning this year in Zanzibar with the regional body having settled for the dates.
According to the body, the competition is slated to take place from June 29th to July 14th; the move coming after Zanzibar was confirmed as the hosts of the competition during the General Assembly held in Mombasa last month.

“After consultations with our sponsors Azam TV, we have decided that June 29th to July 14th will be the best timing to have the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup,” the body’s Executive Director, Auka Gecheo said as quoted by CECAFA’s portal.
Each member team sent to the competition will contribute a sum of US$20,000 that will be used by the hosts to cater for the tournament.
There have been reports that the body is open in inviting guest teams in this year’s edition to spice up the competition and also help the national teams in the Zone prepare ahead of the FIFA 2026 and CHAN 2024 qualifiers.
The competition was last held four years ago in 2019 where hosts Uganda defeated Eritrea in the final to lift the trophy.
Other CECAFA competitions slated for 2024 include;
