Zambia national team head coach Avram Grant will use the forthcoming Four Nations Cup tournament to gauge his fringe players.

Zambia is one of the four teams including Kenya, Zimbabwe and host Malawi, that will be participating in the team and while admitting that they want to win every game, Grant’s main aim will be to find players he can use in the forthcoming World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

“It will be a very good test because I have seen the teams assembled by our opponents for the tournament. Zimbabwe has a very good young squad and many of their players are playing in England and Turkey which I hope will happen to us one day.

“This will be another chance for other players to showcase what they got for the national team.  Because our target is not in this tournament. We want to win every game that we play but our target is World Cup Qualification in June and the AFCON Qualification that will come in September. This won’t be the final squad for the qualifications because the national team door is always opened for everybody but it is a chance for new players to show that they deserve a chance in the team,” Grant told the Zambia FA Youtube channel.

Zambia will open the tournament with a clash against Zimbabwe on Saturday 23rd March at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
