After losing a lead in their last outing against Malawi, Kenya will be taking Ivory Coast in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier Group F match at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi later today.

The Engin Firat charges has only one win, recorded against Seychelles, and a draw in Group F and come against group favourites Ivory Coast who will look to further assert their dominance in the qualifiers.

The reigning African champions and group leaders made it three wins from as many matches when they defeated nearest chasers Gabon 1-0 in Korhogo on Friday, courtesy of a first-half strike from Seko Fofana.

The Elephants, led by coach Emerse Fae, are looking to build on the momentum of their Africa Cup of Nations triumph and return to the World Cup for the first time since 2014; and a fourth straight win would put them in a powerful position to do exactly that.

Both teams have only met once previously in a friendly match in 1991 at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, where the hosts ran 4-0 winners. The game saw Donald Sie, who bagged 49 goals in 88 appearances for the Elephants, grab a brace with other goals scored by Eugene Yago and Abdoulaye Traore with the first three goals scored in the first half.

Stars at that time were under the late Austrian tactician Gerry Saureer who lined up this way; Mike Okoth, Henry Nyandoro, Tobias Ocholla, Anthony Lwanga, Allan Odhiambo, Peter Mwololo, Alfayo Odongo, Elijah Koranga, Mike Otieno and Charles Omondi.
