AFC Leopards striker Arthur Gitego was left on the bench as Rwanda fought from a goal back to hold hosts Libya to a 1-1 draw in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier staged on Wednesday evening in Tripoli.

The hosts had taken a 16th-minute lead through Sobhi Al Dawi but Rwanda ensured a share of the spoils with an equalizer two minutes after resumption through Nshuti.

In other games on Wednesday, Sudan started their qualifying journey with a 1-0 win over Niger with Abu Bakr scoring the all-important goal of the match.

Following the win, Sudan sits temporally on top of Group F with Ghana set to take Angola on Thursday.  Niger will be up against Ghana on Monday in their next match as Sudan travel to Luanda to play Angola.

At the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, Dar Es Salaam, hosts Tanzania were held to a goalless draw by visiting Ethiopia in a match that had few chances.
