Following the injury, Omija did not travel with the national team for their next fixture in South Africa against Namibia and while speaking to Pepeta having undergone MRI scans back in Kenya, the defender has indicated that it was just a knock and will be available for his club Gor Mahia in their next assignment.

“I’m back home. I didn’t travel with the team to South Africa because the coaches didn’t want to risk it, but after the MRI scans, the medical team have told me it’s just a knock and that I’m okay,” he said.

The player is hoping to be fully fit for the upcoming CAF Champions League clash against defending champions Al Ahly of Egypt, which will take place at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

“Being that it was just a knock and I’m feeling okay after treatment I’m now preparing for Sunday’s game against Al Ahly but as you know my club’s medical team will also have to decide on that I’m okay and feel ready for Al Ahly,” Omija added.

His availability for the high-stake fixture will come as a boost for Gor Mahia having impressed against El Merreikh Bentiu scoring a goal in the encounter.
