AFC Leopards striker Arthur Gitego has been called to the Rwanda national team squad ahead of their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin in October.

The 38-man squad called by head coach Frank Spittler, which will be trimmed later, has the task of taking Benin in a doubleheader as they seek to feature in a continental tournament for the first time since 2004.

The first leg will take place on October 11 in Benin, while the return leg is scheduled for October 15 at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Coach Spittler has called up some fresh faces including Kury Johan Marvin (Yverdon Sport FC, Switzerland) and Salim Abdallah (Musanze FC).

The team has already started preparation for the tie where they currently sit in third place two points behind leaders Nigeria and a point behind second-placed Benin.
