KCB FC hitman Francis Kahiro is the latest player to be included in the Harambee Stars team as they prepare for their 2024 CHAN Qualifiers against South Sudan.

Stars lost 2-0 in the first leg of the game staged in Juba and have to turn a 0-2 deficit if they are to make it to the next round which will be a dead rubber tie considering they have already qualified as a co-host.

Firat has been forced to call in new players to fill the void left by some injured players with the Turkish tacticians dropping others as he works out for a winning formula in the second leg set to be staged in Namboole, Uganda.

Apart from Kahiro, Firat has called up Tusker FC striker Ryan Wesley Ogam who is the current top scorer in the FKF Premier League with five goals; the same number of goals as Kahiro after both scored a brace over the weekend.

Musa Mohammed has withdrawn from the squad due to an injury But other players who have been chopped are Kenya U20 Goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala and his Kakamega Homeboyz teammate Brian Eshihanda. Ulinzi Stars’ Boniface Muchiri so is the AFC Leopards duo of Victor Omune and Sydney Lokale were also dropped too.

The return leg is scheduled for November 3, 2024, at 4 PM at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda. Should Kenya triumph over South Sudan, they will advance to the final phase of the qualifiers, where they will meet the winner of the Djibouti vs Rwanda tie. The final phase is slated for December 20-27, 2024.
