Rwanda has qualified for the last round of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 qualifiers after beating Djibouti 3-1 on Thursday at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
Rwanda had shockingly lost 1-0 to the same opponent in the reverse clash but now sails on a 3-2 aggregate and will now meet the winner between Kenya and South Sudan in the final phase of the qualifiers.

In the Thursday game, the hosts were buoyed by the presence of President Paul Kagame and didn’t disappoint their head of state when they took an early lead through Olivier Dushimimana after just 10 minutes.
Dushimimana was at it again netting his second goal of the day after 24 minutes as the hosts raced to a 2-0 lead at the break. After recess, the Djibouti team tried to settle down and close gaps on the pitch but Arsene Tuyisenge made it 3-0 for the hosts at the stroke of full time.
Speaking after the game, Rwanda head coach Frank Spittler said; “I am happy about the way the players expressed themselves today and we need to keep working hard because there is another stage of the qualifiers.”
On Sunday Tanzania will host Sudan in Dar es Salaam, while Kenya face South Sudan in Uganda. Sudan stopped Tanzania 1-0, while South Sudan brushed aside Kenya 2-0 in the first leg.
