South Sudan national team, the Bright Stars, have eliminated Kenya’s Harambee Stars from the CHAN Qualifiers with a 3-1 aggregate following their 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Stars suffered a shocking 2-0 in the first leg held last Sunday at Juba Stadium and needed to overturn the results in the second leg staged at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole, Uganda.

Austin Odhiambo, who captained the side on the day, gave Kenya the lead in the tenth minute but the Bright Stars levelled matters in the 43rd minute with the second half bearing no goals.

With the win, South Sudan will face Rwanda in the last qualification process with the winner on aggregate securing a ticket to the finals set to run between February 1-28 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Despite the defeat from Sudan, Kenya already booked their place in the tournament by virtue of being hosts.
