Tanzania and South Sudan booked their semi-finals slot in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), CECAFA qualifiers.
Tanzania beat Kenya 1-0 in the first Group A match on Wednesday with South Sudan recording the same results against neighbours Sudan in the second game of the day played at the Nakivubo Hamz Stadium on Wednesday.

Tanzania’s solo goal was bagged by Juma Sagwe after 19 minutes with their head coach Aggrey Morris expressing his delight in managing to make it to the last four of the competition.
“I am happy that we have qualified for the semi-final stage and now we need to prepare well for the next stage,” said Morris whose team settled for a 1-1 draw in their opening match against Uganda on Sunday.
In the second match, South Sudan maintained their unbeaten run with Lazarus Peter George Laku netting his second goal of the tournament after 33 minutes. With the win, South Sudan finished top of Group B with six points and now awaits the knockout stage.
After the game, Nasir Yousif Hassen Bakit, the South Sudan coach said, “We know there is still a lot of work to do as we prepare for the semi-final,” added the coach.
Somalia will face Sudan in the next Group B match, while hosts Uganda take on Kenya in a Group A tie that will decide who makes it to the semis.
