Young Africans (Yanga SC) President Eng. Hersi Said has called on players who will be participating in the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) to seize the opportunity to showcase their talent on the continental stage.

Speaking passionately about the tournament’s significance that will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in August, Eng. Hersi underscored its importance as a platform for young footballers to make a name for themselves, not only within Africa but also globally.

“CHAN is a better platform for players in the Kenyan league, Tanzanian league, Ugandan league, and all leagues in Africa to showcase their potential in football. It’s a good opportunity, it’s the right opportunity for us club owners to do scouting,” he said.

Eng. Hersi, whose leadership at Yanga SC has elevated the club to new heights, emphasized the unique opportunities CHAN provides. The tournament, which exclusively features players competing in domestic leagues, is widely regarded as a breeding ground for untapped talent across the continent.

“Players from Kenya, Uganda, or any part of the tournament can make a name for themselves. There will also be scouts from all over the world looking for the cream of Africa,” he noted, urging players to maximize the chance to propel their careers to the next level.

The presence of international scouts adds a layer of significance to CHAN, turning it into a launchpad for players aiming to break into bigger leagues. Past editions of CHAN have unearthed gems who have gone on to achieve success in top European and Asian clubs, as well as with their national teams.
