Former Harambee Stars head coach Adel Amrouche has been found not guilty by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Amrouche had been given an eight-match ban and fined $10,000 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the officials from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) contacted the continental body to complain about remarks made by Algerian.

The two countries met in a Group F clash at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024 with Morocco winning 3-0 after Tanzania had Novatus Miroshi sent off. While expressing his displeasure after the tie, Amrouche claimed that “Morocco had influenced CAF, to manipulate the match scheduling and officiating”.

The tactician appealed the decision to CAS and has since won the case where CAF has been directed to pay a sum of $333,645 (sh 43M) to Amrouche for the unfair suspension.

Amrouche was appointed as Tanzania boss in March 2023, leading them to AFCON by securing a point in his birth country of Algeria in their final qualifying match. The 56-year-old has previously had spells in charge of Equatorial Guinea, Burundi, Kenya, Libya and Botswana.
