Uganda Cranes suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Mozambique in a 2026 World Cup Qualifier on Thursday in Cairo International Stadium, Egypt.
It was the first official meeting between the two teams with both countries coming into the game after winning their previous clashes in Group G. Mozambique, tied at the top with Algeria on nine points, sought to capitalize on their home advantage. On the other hand, Uganda stood three points behind, aware that a win would bring them level on points with Mozambique.

Mozambique seized the one-man advantage with Ratifo scoring their third in additional minutes of the first half. The second of the game bore no goals with the win stretching Mozambique’s lead at the top to 12 points before Algeria plays later on.
