Kenya’s Harambee Stars have slipped in the latest ranking released by the world football governing body FIFA.
Stars have slipped three positions in the latest rankings released on Thursday and are now 111th out of 210 nations with 1,179 points, down from 108th with 1,190 points. The drop follows Kenya’s failure to win either of their two 2026 World Cup Qualifiers which are considered as ‘A’ matches during the ranking cycle.

Last month, Stars went down to Gabon and drew against the Gambia in what was Benni McCarthy’s first assignment as the national team head coach.
In the CECAFA region, Uganda remains the highest-ranked team despite dropping one position to 89th. They are followed by Tanzania, which also fell from 106th to 107th, while Kenya is third. Having surprised the continent by holding Guinea, Somalia was the only team in the region to record an improvement, moving from 202nd to 201st.
Sudan is at 114, down from 113, Rwanda 130 (down from 124), Burundi 140 (down from 139), Ethiopia 147 (down from 146), South Sudan 170 (unchanged), Djibouti 192 (down from 191). Eritrea remained unranked, having not played an international match since January 2020.

Globally, Argentina strengthened their position at the top of the rankings after picking up 18 points in the last international window. The reigning world champions now sit on 1,886 points, extending their lead after impressive wins away to Uruguay (1-0) and at home to Brazil (4-1).
Spain has climbed into second place with 1,854 points after taking full advantage of France’s slip-up against Croatia in the Nations League quarter-finals. Les Bleus, who lost the first leg before recovering in the second, drop to third on 1,852 points.
England remain in fourth on 1,819, closing the gap on France after routine home World Cup qualifying wins over Latvia and Albania in their opening matches under Thomas Tuchel while Brazil closes the top five positions.
