Uganda have gone top of Group C in the Africa Nations Championship following their 2-0 win over Niger on Monday night in a game played at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Kampala.
Allan Okelo was the star man as he scored one and assisted Joel Sserunjogi in what was their second win on the trot following their previous win over Guinea.

Uganda started brightly and were unlucky not to take the lead when Jude Ssemugabi headed slightly wide from a Herbert Achayi’s cross just after 11 minutes. Okelo however stepped up to put them in the lead from the penalty spot after a VAR review had indicated a trip on Regan Mpande in the penalty box.
Sserunjogi doubled the hosts lead in the 56th minute after a swift counter attack saw Okello send a cut back that he expertly slotted in the top left corner, from outside the six-yard areas past the Niger keeer.
Earlier on South Africa edged Guinea 2–1 win to take their points tally to four after two games the same as Algeria. Guinea has three points from three games with Niger being bottom having lost all their matches.
