The Magpies extended their lead after the hour mark when Gordon netted once again from 12 yards, before Harvey Barnes wrapped up the scoring in the closing stages, completing a neat counter-attack, to help the Magpies record their first away win in a major European competition since 2013 in the Europa League.

The Azerbaijani side opened the scoring when Pedro Bicalho struck the post from the outside the box in the 28th minute and captain Abdellah Zoubir reacted quickest to slot home the rebound from close range.
They wrapped up the points seven minutes from time with an excellent individual goal from substitute Emmanuel Addai, who sealed the win with a low drive from outside the box after being set up by Nariman Akhundzada to spark celebrations in Baku.
