While Stars will not be in the competition, there has been a plea by the Ugandan fans to the Kenyan players to allow them make it to the next round where a win for them today, coupled by another win in their final game against Mali would help them to this achievement.

Kenyans on the other hand have not been taking in any of the pleas with the fans urging their troops to ensure that Uganda doesnt make it to the next round. This wont be the first meeting between the two and Pepeta looks at their previous encounters.

Kenya first met Uganda on 1, May 1926 in the CECAFA Cup that ended in a 1-1 draw. Since then, the two teams have met 78 times with Kenya winning 22 of those games to Uganda’s 32 with the other 24 games ending in draws.

As it turned out, the last time both sides met was on 2 September 2021 in the reverse fixture that ended in a scoreless draw.

The highest goals scored in this fixture came on April 30, 1937, when Uganda emerged 9- winners over the Harambee Stars in a CECAFA competition.
