Harambee Starlets keeper kit manager Rosemary Aluoch Kadondi, popularly known as Mara, was laid to rest on Saturday.

 

Mara who served the national team as a goalkeeper during her playing days and was a keeper trainer to the team previously died earlier in the month after a short illness.

 

In Eulogizing Mara, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) vice president Doris Petra said: “She served the game with dedication and passion. We’ll miss a dedicated servant of the game.”

 

 

She was part of the Starlets team from 1995 to 2012 and featured in Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers against Djibouti and Cameroon in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

 

She was also part of the Starlets team that represented Kenya in the Africa Women Championship in 2014 where Kenya lost 1-0 to Rwanda. Locally, Aluoch who was a keeper represented Makolanders, Minicuca and Makongeni Youth Club.

 

Aluoch won the Community Hero Award during the 2017 Sports Personality of the Year (SOYA) gala for her role in grooming less fortunate and talented young players through the “Dadrege” Youth Football Academy in Dandora.
