Egypt has gone top of Group G this after recording a 1-0 win over Togo on Saturday night.

 

The Pharaohs without the services of their talisman Mohammed Salah who had tested positive of Covid before the game arrived in the match placed third with two points after Kenya and Comoros had battled to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

In the match, the hosts had Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh to thank as his second-half header was enough for Egypt to claim their first win in Group G of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

 

The win means that Egypt is now on five points, the same number of points as Comoros with both teams having the same goal difference.  Kenya who comes up against Comoros on Sunday is placed third with three points with Togo being at the bottom of the group with one point.

 

Egypt is set to face Togo again away from home during the international break on Tuesday, November 17th.
