Gor Mahia has appointed Posta Rangers head coach Sammy Omolo as their new head coach following the revelation that Roberto Oliveira Goncalves didn’t have the right documents to lead the team in CAF games.

In a statement, Gor Mahia noted that Omolo will be overseeing their preliminary CAF Champions League tie against APR and it’s not yet clear whether he will be handed the job permanently.

“Tactician Sammy Omollo to stand-in against APR of Rwanda in CAF Champions League preliminary match,” Gor noted.

Omolo is not new to the Gor Mahia environment having played for them between 1992 to 1994 and comes with a coaching experience that has seen him lead teams like Mahakama, Tusker FC, Sony Sugar FC, Oserian, KCB FC and Posta Rangers; his foreign exploits in management seeing him lead India’s East Bengal.

The coach however is expected to lead his team (Posts Rangers FC) in the new season where they are slated to take on newbies Bidco United on November 28, 2020.

Gor Mahia will hope that they can sort the documents of coach Oliveira if they are to make it to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
