2009 Kenyan Premier League champions Sofapaka FC are expected to appoint a new head coach soon following the departure of John Baraza.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that the former Harambee Stars striker had stepped down with his assistant Mike Mururi tasked to lead the team in their next league game against Kariobangi Sharks.
“We have asked coach Baraza to step aside as we plan to take him for further studies either in Norway or Germany. For now, Mururi is in charge of the team as we prepare for our next match against Kariobangi Sharks and we will announce the new head coach anytime from tomorrow,” the club president Elly Kalekwa said on the move.

Bandari FC tactician Ken Odhiambo has been touted as a replacement with Twahir Muhiddin expected to lead the Dockers should Odhiambo decide to jump ship.
Sofapaka has so far lost two of their first three games this after opening league match with a loss against Bandari, beating Western Stima and going down to AFC Leopards in week three.
Apart from Baraza, the club confirmed that Physical Trainer Diallo Kwasi and Assistant Coach Martin Ndagano have also been dropped from the main team to the club’s youth team.
