Mathare United duo of Martin Ongori and Lennox Ogutu has signed new deals with the 2008 Kenyan Premier League champions.

The defenders, who are products of the club youth teams, missed the club opening day loss to Sofapaka over the weekend and the extension will be a boost for the Slum Boyz as they prepare to face Gor Mahia on Thursday.

Speaking to the club’s website team about the deals, head coach Salim Ali said: “I am pleased that we have managed to tie down the two players. They are players who understand the system we try to play here and having them back is a huge boost.

“We missed them in our game against Sofapaka where we played a new backline consisting entirely of players making their debuts.

“I have been hugely impressed with their growth, especially in the last two years where we have seen them come into their own to be first team regulars.”

Mathare conceded four goals in their clash against Sofapaka and will hope that the return of the two can shore up that setback starting with Gor who are also determined to revenge for their loss against Kariobangi Sharks in their last day out.
