French Ligue One side Lorient have made an official bid for Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu.
According to Swedish portal Sportbladet, the player is attracting interest from five teams in Europe but it is only Lorient who have made the step in acquiring the services of the former Chemelil Sugar FC central defender.

The reports states that Lorient have made a €3m (Apprx KES 391M) bid to IF Elfsborg with their league counterparts Reims said to be willing to pay the same amount for the player. Okumu’s club however is said to have slapped a SEK 40M (Apprx KES 516M) price tag on the player but are willing to negotiate for a fair deal.
Apart from Reims and Lorient, other clubs interested in the player are Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers with the other being Belgium giants RC Genk though these clubs are yet to table an offer.

Lorient finished in 16th place in Ligue 1 in the just concluded season with Reims finishing two places higher up than their opponents in the bidding war. Rangers won the Scottish league and will enter the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The news comes a day when it was confirmed that the player had changed his agents with the defender now signed up with the Elite Project Group Limited Agency; the group that manages Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, Arsenal youngsters Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah.
The 24 year old has his contract with Elfsborg expiring next summer.
