Swedish top-flight side Djurgårdens has confirmed that they have an interest in Gor Mahia defender Frank Odhiambo.

Reports emerged earlier in the month that the Swedish side was looking to bolster their defense ahead of the new season and had settled on Odhiambo.

According to the club’s sports director Bosse Andersson in an interview with Pepeta, the reports were true and they are already in discussion with the player’s camp as they hope to lure him this January.

“We are in discussion with the player but nothing has not been agreed yet. We want him for the new season and hope that the talks will be a success,” Anderson said.

Odhiambo joined Gor Mahia last season from Bongonaya FC last year, was handed a starting role by coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto in their clash against City Stars in May 2021 where he partnered with captain Harun Shakava and has never looked back since.; the player scoring his first goal for the club in their last week’s win over Mathare United.

Odhiambo has been part of the Harambee Stars team in recent times and was in the Kenya U23 team that finished fourth in last year’s CECAFA tournament held in Ethiopia.
