Uganda and South Sudan will represent the CECAFA region in the 2023 U20 African Cup of Nations competition.
South Sudan beat Ethiopia 4-2 on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw while Uganda saw off 10-man Sudan 2-0 in the CECAFA U20 tournaments semifinals staged on Tuesday in Khartoum, Sudan; the competition acting as a qualifier to AFCON U20 which needed two teams from each region.

As quoted by the CECAFA portal, Jackson Mayanja, the Uganda Hippos coach said. “We had players who missed this match because of COVID-19 issues, but still we worked hard to win,” said Mayanja.
South Sudan will now face Uganda in the final, while Sudan face Ethiopia in the playoff all on Friday at the Al Hilal Stadium.
