Harambee Stars winger Ovella Ochieng has returned to South Africa with Richards Bay acquiring his services for an undisclosed period.
In a statement, the club said: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Kenyan International winger Ovella Ochieng.
“Welcome to Natal Rich BoyZ Family.”

Richards Bay currently sits in second place on the log after collecting 23 points in their first 13 games of the season; five points below leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who have played a game less.
Ovella will hope he can make the match day squad when the Premier Soccer League returns to action with his team coming up against struggling Swallows on December 31.
It is not the first time the former Kariobangi Sharks man will be in South Africa as he was in the books of Marumo Gallants between August 2021 and January 2022; the club compensated him for unfair dismissal after he lodged his complaint with FIFA. He will be the third Kenyan in the South African top flight this season after Sven Yidah (Marumo Gallants) and Brian Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns).
Richard Bay Fc was formed in 2017 when Thanda Royal Zulu F.C. owner Pierre Delvaux sold the club’s league status to AmaZulu F.C. AmaZulu had finished in fifth place during the 2016–17 National First Division, Thanda Royal Zulu had finished in the first place, achieving automatic promotion. AmaZulu bought the placing from Thanda Royal Zulu, taking the position in the 2017–18 South African Premier Division. After five seasons in South Africa’s second tier, they were to get automatic promotion to the country’s top flight last season
Their famous victory came on 7 February 2021 when they defeated South African giants Kaizer Chiefs 2-1, in a Nedbank Cup last 32 matche.
