Brighton were keen to sell the player as manager Roberto De Zerbi no longer wanted to use the player with his contract having set to end in the summer albeit with an option to extend,
“Recently, he didn’t give 100 percent in training, and on matchday, that’s it on my side,” the Brighton manager said. “Football deserves respect. I don’t have to apologize for anything. Maybe his agent fancies selling him for a lower transfer fee… surely, Trossard didn’t tell me the truth.”
If the Belgian international is registered by midday on Friday, he will be available to play in the Gunners’ match against Manchester United on Sunday.
Tottenham had an offer rejected for Trossard, and are instead pursuing Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo.
