Michael Olunga managed to play in the entire game as Al Duhail beat Al Rayyan 7-6 in post-match penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time to make it to the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League.

The Round of 16 match played on Sunday at the Al Thumama Stadium saw Duhail take the lead in the 107th minute after both teams were unable to get the better of each other in regular time. But Rayyan restored parity in the 123rd minute through former Stoke City man Steven Nzonzi and held on to force the game into penalties.

Duhail seemed not to have been impressed by the referee for the better part of the game after he overruled a goal scored by Edmilson in the 59th minute after reviewing it with the VAR technology.

The draw meant that the match proceeded to penalties where Duhail goals were scored by Edmilson, Olunga, Nam, Muntari, Khaled Mohamed, Bassam, and Boudiaf, while Salah Zakaria saved Al Rayyan’s seventh kick.
