Harambee Stars midfielder Anthony Akumu finally made his Sagan Tosu debut in their scoreless draw against Consadole Sapporo in a Japanese League Cup staged on Wednesday afternoon.

Akumu has been missing in action for his new side in their first three games of the season after signing for them in January as a free agent after months without a club following his departure from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The Kenyan midfielder started the game but was withdrawn in the 57th minute in a match that they had to finish with ten men following the sending off of Shimakawa in the dying minutes of the game.

Akumu whose side are currently placed 10th on the log with four points after three games in the league will be hoping for more minutes when they travel to Cerezo Osaka on Sunday 12th March for their next league tie.

In another game involving a Kenyan on Wednesday, Sydney Lokale was introduced in the 46th minute as Congo’s Saint Eloi Lupopo held hosts Al Akhdar to a 1-1 draw in Benghazi in their CAF Confederations Cup group game.

The draw puts Lupopo in third place in Group A of the competition with four points with Sven Yidah’s Marumo Gallants topping the group with 9 points. USM Algers are second on 7 points with Al Akhdar placed last on two points after match day four.
