“The Senior Women National Team, Harambee Starlets, will play an international friendly match against Albania on April 11, 2023, in Tirana. The team reports to camp on March 30, 2023, and leaves for Albania on April 8, 2023,” the communication noted.
This is the first international engagement for the Starlets in over a year after the FKF’s suspension by the World football governing body FIFA with their opponents currently ranked 78 places above Kenya in FIFA Women’s ranking.
Starlets last action came against South Sudan in October 2021 in the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers which they failed to qualify for after failing to meet Uganda in the last qualifying round due to suspension by FIFA.
Due to the inactivity, Starlets are currently placed 149th in the FIFA Rankings in the last roster released in December 2022 with Albania placed 73rd.
