Harambee Stars attacker Ayub Timbe has returned to China with the country’s League One (second tier) side Nanjing City FC, Pepeta can exclusively reveal.

The player has been clubless since parting ways with Thai top-flight side Buriram United in December 2022 and joins the club on a two-year deal with an option to extend for another year.

The team finished 8th last season with 50 points after 34 games and has been gearing up for the new season with friendly games ahead of the season that will Kick Off next month.

It won’t be the first time Timbe will be playing in China having been in the books of Beijing Renhe, HLJ Lava Spring, and BJ Chengfeng between 2018 and 2020 in between going on loan to English Championship side Reading FC.

Founded nine years ago, Nanjing City is based in the Chinese city of Nanjing and was previously known as Nanjing Fengfan before changing to its current name in 2021. They play their home games in the 18000-capacity Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park and use blue kits for their home games.
