Harambee Stars defender Frank Odhiambo has been sent on loan to Swedish third-tier side IF Vasalund again by parent club IF Djugardens.

Odhiambo joined Djugardens in January 2022 from FKF Premier League side Gor Mahia but less game time meant that he was loaned out to IFK Haninge in the second half of last season where he had nine appearances.

In the same spirit of acquiring more game time, the club’s sporting director Bosse Andersson said of the defender’s latest move: “Frank has been training with Vasalund since we went to training camp (last month) and has been getting to know the association, players, and coaches for quite a few weeks now.

“For Frank, playing time is important and he got that during the pre-season. Vasalund is aiming to move up to the Superettan this year and it is a good environment for Frank to develop in, which is why he is being loaned from Djurgården for the rest of the season.”

On his part, the player said of the move: “I’ve had a good start and pre-season in Vasalund and I’m looking forward to the coming season and developing as a footballer.”

At Vasalund, Odhiambo will be playing with other Kenyans in Anthony Wambani and Mohamed Katana.
