Freiburg beat Bayern Munich 2-1 on Tuesday night to eliminate the German giants from the DFB Pokal competition at the quarter-finals stage.
In what was Thomas Tuchel’s second game in charge of Bayern since taking over from Julian Nagelsmann and it was no surprise when they took the lead when Dayot Upamecano gave them the lead after heading in a Joshua Kimmich’s corner.
Freiburg however hit back when a poor clearance eventually saw the ball fall to Nicolas Höfler outside the box and he put his laces through the ball perfectly, sending the ball beyond a diving Yann Sommer for 1-1 and despite Bayern’s efforts to regain their lead before the break, Freiburg held on.

Benjamin Pavard was to see his effort come off the bar at the hour mark as Bayern continued to push for that elusive goal but nothing came to fruition. With the game headed for a draw, Jamal Musiala handed the ball in his own box for a 93rd-minute penalty which was tucked in by Lucas Höler to knock out the giants out of the competition.
