The Premier League top four race is heating up with both Manchester United and Newcastle United winning their Wednesday night games against Brentford and West Ham United respectively.

United who has struggled of late to find goals had Marcus Rashford to thank as his first half goal was all the Erik ten Hag side needed to beat Brentford who beat them 4-0 in the reverse fixture.

While United struggled, Newcastle had a smooth sail on Wednesday after beating West Ham 5-1 at the London Stadium.

Callum Wilson opened the scoring after only six minutes, heading in Allan Saint-Maximin’s cross with the visitors doubling their lead just moments later as Joelinton raced in, rounded the goalkeeper and finished with aplomb. While the Hammers pulled one back through Kurt Zouma at the stroke of half time, the visitors ran riot in the second half.

The visitors two-goal advantage was immediately restored after the break as Wilson scored his second of the evening and added a fourth through Alexander Isak before Joelinton rounded off the scorings with a fifth late on.
