Manchester City and Inter Milan both made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Bayern Munich and Benfica respectively.
Bayern had an uphill task of overturning a three-goal deficit heading into the match but did well in the earlier proceedings but was undone by poor finishing. Dayot Upamecano was given a red card for his last-man foul on Erling Haaland before a VAR offside against the City striker saw it overturned.
The defender found himself penalized a second time for handball but the Norwegian blazed his penalty horribly over Yann Sommer’s goal.

But Haaland punished the Bavarians’ desperation to score by breaking the deadlock himself from a counterattack. Bayern was handed a belated chance to reduce their deficit as Joshua Kimmich converted a penalty after Manuel Akanji’s handball.
City progressed to the semifinals where they will be meeting Real Madrid who beat Chelsea FC in the other quarterfinal.
In another match of the night, Inter Milan secured their first Champions League semi-final appearance since 2010 with a breathless 3-3 draw against Benfica having has a two goal cushion from their first-leg encounter.
Inter will now take on city rivals AC Milan in the final four of Europe’s elite club competition.
